PROJECT HERACLES // 12th September 2011
Gibraltar, a thin line – 14 kilometers – of water between Spain and Morocco, but a deep geopolitically issue, separating two major continents.
From the many issues arouse by Gibraltar was born an imaginary infrastructure spanning the Strait, filling the gap and thus creating a strong connection between Europe and Africa. Named Project Heracles, the project – initiated by magazine Domus – is the culmulative work of different participants asked to respond to the Gibraltar question with suggestions on a postcard.
Among the many propositions: the Euros Isles – I’m not sure it’s gonna help – the Pool (a very refreshing basin above the sea), a cable car (very close in its style from the Rio de Janeiro one) and also a Frontier Fun Park that looks like an airship, but is in fact a futuristic cable-car.
