THE DREAMTIME // 26th May 2011

The way you see things is always a question of point of view. With this series of paintings, Korean-American artist So Yoon Lym portraits people from an uncommon side : from an arial view ! By this, viewer can admire the dexterity needed to master the art of braiding and cornrowing.

Born in Seoul, grown up a while in Africa (Kenya and Uganda), So Yoon Lym decided then to travel to France, in Normandy, to study with an exiled Korean painter named Ung No Lee. After this lifetime experience, the soon to be artist went to the United States to pursue art school in Rhode Island and graduate school in New York City. Following this formal education, So Yoon Lym worked as a textile colorist in NYC, an adjunct professor at Bergen Community College in Paramus and as an art educator in Paterson, NJ.
